3 Reasons Why A Coworking Space Will Boost Your Biz
Since leaving my corporate job last August to pursue my social media and brand design work full-time, I've learned something not-so convenient about myself: I'm really good at working from home. I'm so good, in fact, sometimes I can work for days straight without really leaving the house!
As much as I embrace staying in, I know that myself and my business need community and interaction with others to truly flourish and grow. Plus, working at home alone can get pretty depressing sometimes.
Thankfully, TechArtista in St. Louis' Central West End (my old neighborhood!) invited me to work from their awesome, collaborative coworking space for the last three months. Since a lot of my design work is confined to my iMac desktop at home, I'd hop over to TechArtista on the days I could work freely from my laptop, where I worked on freelance writing assignments, caught up on emails, put together blog content and more.
Have you thought about investing in a coworking space for your business or team this year? Here are three reasons why a space to work outside of your home might be for you!
1. You're yearning to meet more creatives in your industry.
I've said it once and I'll say it again: community is key! St. Louis is home to an array of great networking groups and get-togethers, but one thing I love about TechArtista is the fact that the space regularly hosts events for its members and the general public. From hosting yoga sessions on weekend mornings to pop-up events, there's always something going on in this coworking community. If you're like me and you're in major need of a break outside of your home office (if even a few days a week, or month!), a coworking space might give you just the does of community that you need.
2. You want to feel more legit.
Trust me on this one! After my first morning working at TechArtista, I had a pep in my step and felt great about my business – and not just because I was a productivity queen while I was there. TechArtista offers a lot of on-site amenities that I was seeking to make my business run just a bit smoother – like private call booths, meeting spaces to host clients and, of course, unlimited drip coffee. Imagine if you had a cool space to direct your clients to for meeting, rather than a noisy Starbucks or cafe? TechArtista also has an on-site gym and salon for its members – how cool is that?
3. You want to accomplish more – in less time.
This is by far the biggest reason why I'm now a coworking convert! When I took a chance to step away from my home office and the distractions that can sometimes come along with working from home (like that laundry that needs to be moved into the dryer, and let's not lie, two cute dogs!), I got more done in four hours than I ever thought possible. You might see this happen for you, too! If you tend to get distracted easily in spaces where other people are walking around and holding conversations, bring along a pair of headphones, plug in and get ready to work!
