3 Essential Parts of an Email Welcome Series

When it comes to marketing strategies, it’s important to cover all the bases. In my own business, one of my favorite ways to connect with my audience is through email.

Mailchimp is a tool I’ve been using that personally works for me and offers many automations to make emailing subscribers quick and easy while still giving campaigns a personal touch. Because let’s face it: no one likes receiving emails that scream ‘automated’. With many easy email marketing tools, it’s important for business owners to take full advantage to get max results.

Use an attention-grabbing subject line for your first email.

New email subscribers will expect to hear from you soon after they subscribe, otherwise, they’ll likely lose interest. Set up a welcome email to send immediately or soon after new subscribers opt into your list with an attention grabbing subject line that ideally includes their name if you were able to capture that info at the point of opt-in.

Adding in these personal touches give your subscribers a sense of importance (which they are!). Trust us: Going the extra step in these areas matters.

Include storytelling and personalization.

Get personal with your email audience and share a bit about who you are and what value you can offer to them. This could look like sharing the story of how you launched your business or how your business has helped others.

Remember: personalization is key. One of the main reasons people love being online is because of relatability and the amazing personal connections that can be fostered via email, social media and beyond. Sharing personal stories will help others feel included and like they’re not alone in their journey.

Share an incentive to retain subscribers or encourage a purchase.

One great email just don’t cut it – you have to keep ‘em coming back. Depending on the type of business you own, a relevant call-to-action or incentive will keep new subscribers interested in staying subscribed to your email updates.

For commerce brands, offer a small discount (like 10% off) to new subscribers to grab their attention and boost conversions; for service-based businesses, consider offering a valuable opt-in freebie like an informational e-book or printable.
