Dressing For: A PR Presentation
It's springtime, and senior PR capstone presentations are just around the corner for many up-and-coming grads. I remember my own presentation like it was just yesterday - the countless hours of client work, revising and re-revising the Powerpoint and gathering all of the media clips that served as evidence of my hard work. I was so focused on the outcome of my capstone, though, that I had no idea what I was going to wear the day of!
Thankfully, you don't have to worry about this. I've pulled together a no-fail outfit that will not only impress, but it's effortlessly comfortable, too!
It all starts with a statement piece - I know I've said it before, but investing in statement jewelry is a must once you're in the working world. A bold necklace or watch can change up an otherwise dull outfit to something special. My go-to statement pieces are BaubleBar necklaces.
A simple top goes a long way - A comfortable, dressy tee goes a long way when dressing for a presentation. Rather than dealing with a tight blouse or a button-up that is prone to wrinkles, I always opt for a dressy tee that can be dressed up with jewelry. My favorite tee this season? American Rag's basic tee!
Don't shy away from bold pants - Just because a crazily printed or brightly colored pant seems like a risk doesn't mean that you shouldn't try it! I've worn both my printed pants from Macy's and my neon yellow pants to presentations without a hitch. Play around with color to catch and keep the attention of your audience!
Opt for flats - Something that I wish I had known during my first PR presentation was that standing for 30 or more minutes in heels while presenting information hurts. Choose a pair of comfy yet chic flats to wear for your presentation. With the right amount of confidence, you'll feel like you're standing tall and proud no matter what.
