Hello, Working Girl: Bianca Dottin of Elle B
Meet Bianca, the founder and owner of e-commerce boutique Elle B. We've taken a recent interest in e-commerce ventures on That Working Girl, and couldn't be more excited to share Bianca's success story regarding the boutique. Learn more about Elle B below, and consider enrolling in the boutique's brand ambassador program! Q: How did Elle B begin, and how have you grown it into the brand that it is now?
A: Elle B started as a side business. I never thought that it would grow to be as big as it is now. I started Elle B in January 2013. In the beginning it took off slowly, with just a few sales here and there from family and friends. I was posting pictures on my personal Instagram and Facebook pages. I had no clear vision or plan for where I wanted it to go. I just knew that I wanted to work for myself. After a few months in business and making sales, I was well aware of the kind of brand I wanted to build. I got tired of people saying, "I just sell jewelry." I wanted people to recognize that I'm building a brand. I think Elle B has grown into the brand that it is now because I have an amazing support system who has pushed me to continue building the company of my dreams.
Q: Why do you think e-commerce boutiques are booming as of late?
A: I think e-commerce boutiques are booming because they are convenient and easily accessible. You can shop from most websites on your computer, cell phone or iPad. Most e-commerce boutiques also have better customer service than big box stores, and can accommodate every customer with ease.
Q: What is your favorite piece in the Elle B shop, and why?
A: Wow, that's a hard question! I literally love every single piece, but if I would choose, the 3 Spikes Bracelet. I love it because it's easy to pair with other pieces and it can go with virtually any outfit.
Q: Where do you hope to see your brand in a year?
A: I have so many hopes for the future, but within the next year I would love to expand. I want to be able to carry more inventory with everything from jewelry to clothing to handbags. I want to get my pieces into the hands of celebrities and in magazines. I would love for Elle B to be a household name, I know that's a big wish, but a girl can dream!
Q: What advice do you have for other Working Girls looking to open their own online boutique?
A: Do your research! There's nothing worse than going into a business and you have no idea what you're doing. Know who your target market is and the most effective way to reach your audience. Always believe in yourself no matter what. There will be times when you feel like giving up or you feel overwhelmed, but that's completely okay. It's normal and sometimes even necessary to go through that rough patch because you'll come out even stronger.
